1974 Jensen
Interceptor III
Designed by Federico Formenti, of Carrozzeria Touring in Italy, the Jensen Interceptor is considered the most famous car built by the manufacturer. It was released directly after the previous model, the CV8 left production in 1966.
The Jensen Interceptor does share a chassis with the CV8, but despite the shape, the two models sport completely different looks. The CV8 was built using fiberglass whereas the Interceptor is a steel-bodied car. A significant visual difference lies in the shape of the models’ headlamps, with the CV8’s slanted headlamp clusters and the Interceptor’s angled forehead lights.
Under the hood, she packs a punch with a thirsty 7.2-litre Chrysler V8 engine.
We are only the third owners of this car, after having spent some time lying in a shed. The bodywork was bronze originally, painted red, and restored to a more classic look before our purchase. GP59 is responsible for much of the mechanical restorations, including upgrades recommended for Jensen’s to keep them cool and reliable.
She is privately owned by our Co-Founder, Richard, and is certainly more than a vehicle at the GP59 workshop. Please feel free to pop by and have a look for yourself.
